I still stand by the WOW of my original post for a little amp but nope she's not perfect. It helped me decide on a new gretsch that is a whole other story on gretsch-talk. I'm happy with the amp, glad I could fix it so easily, and pleased with the result. I do think it sounds good with the tele too. It sounds really good with my Gretsch and Les Paul less so with the strats. I told him today for the price I paid and lunch it is his. Eventually I’ve gotten around to doing the led mod no this Amplifier & I have to admit it’s definitely improved the usability of the amp, it’s one of the eas. One of the guys at works wants a VOX but doesn't want to spend a ton. This one seems to be a hit and has a nice depth to my ears. I have read in the tele pages the reverb is hit or miss. I caught myself looking at bigger speakers etc and stopped. I was really surprised by the little bulldog speaker. If I want overdrive I use a cheapo berhinger to800 that I like. Definitely in the "what drive channel?" on my Hot Rod Deluxe. I am a clean tone sort of person from an amp. If I were going to keep it I too would look at changing the bias on what I think is the transistor that provides the boost. The tone itself is quite brittle and lacks body, a character of many Vox which well. I need to make a bracket so that it’s in a good spot, looks decent and the flywire it in. I have ordered a 1meg pot to install across the output transistor and pad down that 28dB so the switching capability is actually usable, but I haven’t installed it. I did try the mod where you remove the clipping diodes to allow more headroom, that made no difference so I put them back in. If you get a nice sound clean and hit that Top Boost, BAM!!! You are slammed with a mighty 25-28dB boost! Holy cats. The reverb tends to be a bit anemic and the tremolo a bit sharp. Sadly for me it does a couple things ok and the rest not very well. Reverb AND trem then a step of the button a bit of a boost. Lots of features, seems to be well thought out. I thought it’d be the answer to everything as they were highly sought and spoken of. I bought one when they were all the used rage on the Tele pages.
